1. General information
The main goal of this subject is that the student learns how to use econometric models to design and solve a basic econometric investigation. The first part of the program presents the General Linear Model, as the simplest econometric specification to start working with real data. The second part of the program presents models with qualitative data, which are very common in applied marketing and market research works.
These approaches and goals are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of United Nations (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), specifically, the activities planned in the subject will contribute to the achievement of goals 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality).
2. Learning results
The subject of Econometrics is important in the student's training process in two aspects.
Firstly, it enriches its curriculum with a type of techniques, econometric techniques, which are increasingly in demand in the professional field. In this degree, the use of quantitative techniques for market analysis is deepened.
In this sense, this instrument is one of the essential pieces for market research and for the elaboration of forecasting scenarios consistent with economic reality.
Secondly, the econometric method fosters the user's critical spirit in the face of economic dogmas and axioms.
This aspect is important because, at the end of his training, the student should be able to judge reality for himself and should also have analytical methods to corroborate or refute his expectations.

6 ECTS = 150 hours
In principle, the teaching methodology and its evaluation is planned to be based on face-to-face classes . However, if circumstances so require, they may be carried out online.
5. Assessment system
In the FIRST CALL, a continuous and global evaluation system may be chosen.
The Continuous Assessment system is composed of two tests (each of them represents 50% of the final grade ). Each test consists of a multiple-choice exam and a practical exam to be performed on a computer. The first one will be after the end of Unit 3, and the second one after the end of Unit 6. To pass the subject you must obtain at least 5 points out of 10, with a minimum of 3 points out of 10 in each of the two intermediate tests.
Global assessment.
Students who do not pass or do not manage to pass the subject by the continuous assessment method or who wish to improve their grade, must submit to the GLOBAL assessment method, consisting of an exam containing the entire programme of the subject, with 50% computer-based and 50% theoretical-practical questions.
In the SECOND CALL, the evaluation method will be the Global system.
Assessment Criteria:
The evaluation of fifth and sixth call students will be governed by Article 23 of the Regulations of the Rules for the Evaluation of Learning, approved on December 2010 by the Governing Council of the University of Zaragoza.
This article establishes that the student will take the assessment in front of an examining board, although he/she may choose to take the exam together with the rest of his/her classmates and then hand in the exam to be corrected by the examining board.
